1ST PAN-AFRICAN TRADITIONAL AREA DEVELOPMENT DAY LAUNCHED IN KOFORIDUA.

• The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has joined the Omanhene of New Juaben traditional area, Daasebre Prof (Emeritus) Oti Boateng and other chiefs as well as the people of New Juaben Traditional Council to officially to launch an annual Traditional Area Development Day (TADD) at Koforidua.

• TADD is to serve as an interface between traditional festivals and traditional areas’ self-help development initiatives, and is designed to be a special purpose vehicle for the implementation of a Pan-African Root-based Economic Development (r-BED) Model for accelerated, home-driven growth, according to its promoters.

• Vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stated, he hopes this initiative will serve as a turning point for traditional areas to partner with Government and the private sector in local level development. • "Government recognizes the efforts of the Traditional Council, adding that the government will continue to support Nananom to enhance effective development" the vice president said.

As co-Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Government believes that initiatives of this nature are necessary towards the attainment of the goals.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in his speech aslo commended the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Council, Daasebre Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng for his enormous contribution to nation building.



"Government recognizes the efforts of the Traditional Council, adding that the government will continue to support Nananom to enhance effective development" the vice president said.



Dr Mahamudu Bawumia encourage Ghanaians to embrace and support the Root Based Model to boost effective development in their various communities.



Meanwhile Togbe Afede XIV, President of the National House of Chiefs and the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State as well as the President of Asogli Traditional Area in the Volta Region, emphasized the role of chiefs in nation building as he indicated that, Nananom will continue to give their quota to nation building.
