GHANAIAN STUDENTS LIKELY TO BECOME INFECTED DURING EVACUATION -CHINESE EMBASSY

The Chinese Embassy in Accra has advised against any move to evacuate Ghanaian students in China because they are more likely to become infected during evacuation.


IT SAID THAT THE ANXIETY AND UNEASE AMONG PARENTS AND STUDENTS IN WUHAN, THE EPICENTER OF THE VIRUS IS UNDERSTANDABLE AND GAVE THE ASSURANCE THAT, EVERYTHING IS BEING DONE TO MAKE SURE THE STUDENTS HAVE SUFFICIENT ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE AND DAILY NECESSITIES.

The advice comes following an appeal by Ghanaian students in Wuhan and the NDC for their evacuation.


A statement by the Spokesperson of the Embassy Dr. Zhou Yuehan said China is better equipped to handle such cases.


Added to that, is the valuable experiences gained in their battle against the SARS epidemic.


The statement gave an assurance that any Ghanaian student who contracts the virus will receive timely and quality treatment.


It said that the anxiety and unease among parents and students in Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus is understandable and gave the assurance that, everything is being done to make sure the students have sufficient access to medical care and daily necessities.
