His Execllency Mr. Edward Boateng, Ghana's Ambassador to China


The Ghana Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Edward Boateng in a wechat post assured NEC executives as well as the various chapter leaders of the Ghanaian community in China and Ghanaians in general that the embassy has followed up meticulously with all the people who called the embassy on the current treatment against Africans in Guangzhou.


His Excellency said, he personally intervened in several cases that we brought before him over the last one week.

He also added, "the personal welfare and Ghanaians is their number one priority and we will not renege on that.


"I have had three meetings with the Director General of Africa, spoken to the Guangzhou municipal Chief severally (about 14 times) and 22 Ambassadors including myself met the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday and they apologised for what they termed as the excesses of the Guangdong Provincial officers" H.E. Mr. Edward Boateng added.


NEC executives as well as the various chapter leaders of the Ghanaian community in China were advised to stick to the facts and issues and not overcook the situation else we spoil our story.

He also said, we should also refrain from posting information that is not true about. Earlier on a message was posted indicating "China gives illegal Ugandans amnesty, apologizes for racial discrimination reports in Guangzhou" but H.E. Mr. Edward Boateng said this story posted is not true.


According to Mr. Boateng, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has spoken on the issue and has had two meetings with the Chinese Ambassador in Ghana.


In the post, he further stated, H.E Chen Xiaodong, China's assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs apologized and explained to all the ambassadors present at the meeting on Monday in detail what led Chinese government to take the decisions of the last few days and the efforts they were making to resolve it.


The ambassador also revealed, a high level team was dispatched from Beijing to Guangzhou to right the wrong.


He also urged NEC executives and executives of the various chapters of the Ghanaian community in China to extend a hand and work with them to achieve the results we want.
